Weighed down with just too much of life’s burdens and you can’t even get your feet on the ground? You’re a Christian but seem to be stalling a bit in life…can’t seem to muster the strength to accomplish anything for the Lord anymore…there may be an answer.

There is a scripture in the book of Galatians which says the following:

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:7-9)

This scripture in the book of Galatians is not just speaking about money (although it can be applied there as well). Sowing and reaping applies to every area of our lives as Christ followers. Jesus said in John 6:63,

“The Spirit gives life and the flesh counts for nothing.”

When we sow to the desires of our sinful nature, we will reap the effects in our lives. When we sow to the spiritual things in our lives…ahhh, then we reap the benefits of our relationship with the Lord!

I believe verse 9 of Galatians (cited above) really gives us some insight into what happens when we continue to sow into our flesh or sinful nature-we get burned out-we lose the passion for the things God is passionate about. The works of our flesh cannot sustain the work of Christ-we will succumb to its pressures and collapse under the weight.

WE GET BURNED OUT WHEN WE ARE DOING THE RIGHT THINGS THE WRONG WAY!

We need to start doing the right things the RIGHT way! When we sow to the Spirit and lean not our ourselves but the finished work of Christ, then as the scripture says in Matt 11:28-30, His burden becomes light and He gives us rest in Him. Everything done in our own strength is difficult but when it is done in the strength that He provides (Eph 6:10), it becomes ever so easy!

Give it all to Him today! Let go! …and let God! Stop facing your battles with Jesus in your corner. Instead, start facing Jesus and let Him fight your battles for you!

God Bless.

“Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.” (Matt 11:28/TLB)
