The Power of Agreement

“Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth concerning anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven.” Matt 18:19

“…pray for each other that you may be healed” James 5:16

Why is it when someone is in sick or in trouble we go around trying to get hundreds of people to start praying for that person? Do we think ‘the more the merrier’? Or do we think the answer from God will come by attrition? Victory in numbers? Now what I will say next may upset some but I’m basing it simply on what the Word of God says. While corporate prayer is good and powerful (and healing definitely can take place during a corporate setting), I believe we need to go back to what the Bible truly says! It states that it only takes ‘two’ people to come into agreement for us to release the answer from Heaven. But here is the kicker, we need to be in total agreement! If I’m praying with someone for healing and totally believing in faith that they are healed in Jesus’ name but the other person is just ‘hoping’ they will be healed…well, we are not in agreement! Some will say this just semantics and that if God heals then God should just heal, all this other stuff doesn’t really matter…but if that’s the case then the whole Bible would just be semantics and the whole thing either fictitious or children’s fantasy. No, the Word is truth and thus we must believe it as such. 2 Timothy & 2 Peter state that ‘all scripture is God-breathed’.and that ‘men spoke from God as they were carried along by the power of the Holy Spirit’. Jesus stated in John 17:17 ‘the Word is truth’! Let’s stick to what the Word says! We need to be in total agreement when standing together with someone in prayer. This is why many times people don’t end up receiving their healing. Only God knows a person’s heart and if their heart is not truly believing, their healing can’t be appropriated and enacted in their body. What does Romans 10:8 state? That ‘the Word is near you: it is in your mouth AND IN YOUR HEART’. Then it goes on to state how one is saved-by confessing with their mouth and believing in their heart!! Glory to God! Receiving healing is no different than receiving our salvation. We need to get our mouths and our hearts lined up in faith according to God’s Word, come into agreement with those who are also correctly aligned, and we will begin to see the fulfillment of God’s Word in our lives-His healing power manifest in our bodies so we can live our lives disease and sickness free, in the fullness of His purpose for us and completely for His glory!!!
