The benefit of sharing your Faith

I pray that you may be active in sharing  your faith so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. (Philemon 1:6)(NIV-1984)

So many Christians have become stagnant in their faith and have resigned to just attending a church service once a week on a Sunday morning. They wonder where their passion has gone. Why they feel ‘stuck’ in life and going nowhere. Why their Christian walk seems so unproductive and ineffective…

…my question may be: when was the last time they chose to talk to someone about their Christian walk-about their faith in Jesus? When was the last time they witnessed to someone about what God has done for them or about being born-again? Shared a meal with someone who is hungry? Helped someone change a flat tire simply because the Holy Spirit prompted them to do so? Have they ‘shared their faith’ as of recent? The Word says that we will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ when are ‘active’ in sharing our faith! The key word is ‘active’. Many of the principles in the Christian faith have an inverse relationship and this is one of them. We can’t actively fill ourselves up with Christ by just doing it all by ourselves. Oh we can read and study God’s Word and spend time in prayer-which are definitely things we should be doing and need to do. But if that’s all we ever do and relegate ourselves to just feeding ‘us’ and never expending out what we have taken in, we just become…well-FAT. In the natural, when one gets fat, it creates lethargy, aching in the joints, strain on our internal organs and pain in our body-life just becomes difficult and people many times even become depressed and just continue to gain more weight exacerbating the situation. That doesn’t sound to me like a person who has a ‘full understanding of every good thing’ they have! That just sounds FULL! Well the same is true in our spiritual lives! We must fill up with God’s Word and the Holy Spirit and be active in prayer but we must also then ‘GO’ and ‘DO’. Christ’s final command was to ‘Go into all the world and PREACH the Gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15). GO and make disciples of all nations…(Matt 28:19). Not only hear the Word but DO what it says (James 1:22). God wants us to be active in our faith and share what Christ has done for us with others! The Bible even says that He helps us through our hardships in life so in turn we can use our experience and help we received from God to then help others (2 Cor 1:4)! Glory to God!!!

I challenge you to begin sharing your faith today! Ask God every day to present opportunities for you to talk to someone about Christ, to help someone in need, and watch your life change in an instant! God’s Word is always true! Amen!
