Looking out for Numero Uno

Ever heard the expression “God takes care of those who take care of themselves.”? Very common idiom but completely untrue and not Biblical. ‘God takes care of those who take care of others.’ That might be a bit more true of a statement. The apostle Paul exhorts us in his letter to the church at Philippi ‘to look out for the interests of others’ and ‘consider others better than yourselves’.

At the end of his letter to the Philippians, Paul states that ‘God will provide all our needs according to (God’s) riches in glory’. He made this statement based on the Philippians offering to help him and other churches.

I have to say that if all you ever do is look out for yourself trying to make yourself happy, in the end you will only wind up unfulfilled and empty. True joy and happiness is found in serving others-giving yourself unto others. That is where true joy and happiness is found. Life is about people. On our deathbed, after our life course has been run, it’s all about the ‘people’ in our lives in which we invested! Blessings!
