The Great Exchange

I hear many Christians stating they want to change something about themselves or see this or that transpire more in their lives. Things that are godly traits but that they lack in some area. All believers feel this way to some degree, and we should be wanting ever more of Jesus. The catch is, we don’t get that change or see those things transpire typically by focusing on those areas, asking God to help us. If so, it would be in our own strength by which we prevailed. God is a jealous God and wants your success to be on Him. So instead, we are simply to press into our relationship with the Father. We are to love on Him and minister to Him in our worship and time in His Word – time spent adoring Him and dwelling in His presence. As we do so, we become more like Him and those things we want to change and transpire, just begin happening.

We don’t come to God after we’ve cleaned ourselves up and made ourselves presentable. That’s the worlds way. No, we come as is and He accepts us willingly, loving us as is but so much, that He does the cleaning up in us. We are just to love Him. It’s the great exchange. He takes our sin and tarnished nature, dying on a cross. He in turn gives us a new heart and nature, to be like Him, forgiving all our sins and making us righteous in Him!

“But because of His love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ Jesus, even when we were dead in our sin and transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2:5)
