The Loving Father

Matt 6:33, ‘Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these other things (provision, blessing) will be provided unto you.’

I believe God is a good God. He is a loving Father and desires to bless His children. Jesus makes this point in the Gospels many times. When we put God’s priorities first in our life and take care of His desires, God will take care of our priorities and our desires. Too many make God out to be some sort of tyrant or a scolding parent just looking to make our lives miserable-this just is not true. James 1:17 says ‘every good and perfect gift is from above’. Matt 7:11 states ‘If you then being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him?’. As a parent of 4 children, I know I long to bless my kids. When they are disobedient, they will be disciplined of course but, when they do those (very few) things typically asked of them and do their best in life, I always look for ways to bless them! And to be honest, even when they miss it, I still show grace to bless them anyways. Is this not the same way our heavenly Father is with us? Glory to God we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and longs to bless us!! Let us always put Him first in our lives. His promises are always ‘yes’ and ‘amen’!
