More than Conquerors

Galatians 1:4 Good News Translation (GNT)

In order to set us free from this present evil age, Christ gave himself for our sins, in obedience to the will of our God and Father.

Many times people who are offered the message of the gospel think that being a Christian only means we receive a ‘get out of jail free’ card so we don’t have to go to hell. Well that is partly true. If you have accepted the free gift of salvation from Jesus you do escape the eternity of hell but there is much more than that. Yes Christ came to deliver us from hell but Jesus came also to restore right relationship between us and the Father. That relationship is to be established in the here and now-not just in some future date in eternity. God wants our eternal relationship to be established now so He can love on us and bless us in this life, preparing us for the next life in eternity with Him. Paul states that God has set us free from this ‘present’ evil age! The Bible states we are ‘more than conquerors through Him who loved us’. More than conquerors! What image does that spark in your mind? I can say that for myself, I see these great military leaders leading their people to victory! Being rewarded with all the spoils of war! Having plenty and in abundance! That is what God wants to do in our lives! He had given His Son over in death and now to be resurrected so that we would no longer have to live under the error of our mistakes, under the weight of our sins, under the destruction and sin in this world! His divine power has given us everything we need for Life and Godliness…so that we may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world…!! This is GOOD NEWS for all who believe!! We no longer have to be subject to living in sickness, in poverty, in desolation, in that ‘woe is me’ mindset for in Christ, we are victors, conquerors over this world and the devil, and put back in right relationship with God!!
